Fakebook

"Greater love has no one than this, that he lay down his life for his friends." John 15:13

Our Fakebook series is about relationships.  Facebook is a great tool to connect people, but are their things that are unhealthy about it?  Can we move beyond shallow relationships to really love each other as Christ loved us?  Do we find our value in our interests, activities and favorites?  Let us know what you think about Fakebook, Facebook, friendship, or whatever else is on your mind...

Starting a New Semester...

How was your summer?  What did you do?  Where did you go?  What did God teach you?

Jesus Week

"Therefore God exalted him to the highest place and gave him the name that is above every name, that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, in heaven and on earth and under the earth, and every tongue confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father." - Phillipians 2:9-11

March 26-30 will be a week full of events to promote the name of Jesus on campus.  Every student at IWU should have a chance to hear the gospel and be saved!  If you want to share a prayer request or something cool that happened during the week, please do so!

Rooted

"I pray that you, being rooted and established in love, may have power, together with all the saints, to grasp how wide and long and high and deep is the love of Christ" - Ephesians 3:17b-18

College is a time were your foundations can be shaken to the core or strengthened for a lifetime.  Building a life that is rooted in Christ is the most important thing that you can strive for.  Our latest large group series will explore crucial ways to stay rooted: community, God's Word, the power of the Spirit, and our purpose.  Share how God has helped you be rooted in Him...

Metamorphosis '07

"Do not conform any longer to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God's will is—his good, pleasing and perfect will." - Romans 12:2

The theme of Meta '07 was "Called. Transformed. Equipped."  I think God did all of those things in abundance!  It was such a blessing to have 18 students there from two campus ministries at IWU.  We had a great time receiving good teaching, doing in-depth Bible study, having thoughful quiet times, experiencing powerful musical worship, and praying together as a community.  It was also a whole lot of fun!  Let us know what God did in your life at Meta...

"I Have a Friend..."

"Therefore confess your sins to each other and pray for each other so that you may be healed."  James 5:16

In the movies, the main characters often share things by starting a story.  They say, "I have a friend who..." likes this girl, has this problem, is losing his super powers, etc.  They pose it in this way so that they can get help and advice for something they are dealing with without revealing their own insecurities and issues.  It's easier to say "a friend" has issues than to really own up to it ourselves.  Unfortunately, it is usually easier for everyone else to see through the self-deception, than it is for the hurting person.

As Christians, we often handle things the same way.  We struggle with issues of doubt, worry, loneliness, depression, shame and guilt but can't build up the courage to talk to others about them, let alone talk to God about them.  And the truth is that those are the exact people, God and our family in Christ, that can provide the most comfort, healing, and support.  These are all issues that we all stuggle with.  Share with us your "I Have a Friend..." story so that we can pray and support you...

Urbana Missions Convention!

Urbana was off the hook!  God really challenged me to get out of my comfort zones and be more of a world Christian.  I can't put into words how awesome it was, but maybe you can.  Please share how God met you at Urbana...

The Prayer Labyrinth

"Show me your ways, O LORD, teach me your paths" Psalm 25:4

A prayer labyrinth is an ancient tradition that helps people slow down and meditate on their spiritual journey with God.  It is an experiential spiritual discipline that mirrors the pilgrimage we are all on towards Christ.  Please share what God showed you, how the Holy Spirit spoke to you, and what you liked best about the labyrinth...

Thanks Giving

Psalm 69:30 "I will praise God's name in song and glorify him with thanksgiving."

Take the time to count your blessings!  With Thanksgiving approaching, let us know what you are thankful for...

The Greatest Stories...

God has an unfolding story of redemption.  Narratives always have the same components: beginning, conflict, climax, and resolution.  From the Bible we already know the beginning (Creation and The Fall), the conflict (Sin vs. God), the climax (The Cross and Resurrection), and the resolution (New Creation and Jesus' Return).  When we think about such grand meta-narrative, it can feel like we are very small and insignificant and that our lives don't matter.  Well part of that is true, we are very small, but the lie is that you and your story are insignificant.  All of our individual stories play a part in God's redemption story and are important.  Feel free to tell us a little bit about your story...
